16. Michal Kalhous

W latach 1990-1995 studiował na Wydziale Filozoficznym Uniwersytetu Palackiego w Ołomuńcu (historia sztuk pięknych). Kalhous skupia się przede wszystkim na medium fotografii, jest też kierownikiem Pracowni Intermediów na Wydziale Sztuki na Uniwersytecie Ostrawskim. Fotografować zaczął w latach 90., wystawiając w kraju i za granicą. Jego charakterystycznym tematem jest własna rodzina, ale także pozornie banalny świat przedmiotów codziennego użytku, który w szczególny i charakterystyczny sposób przenosi w inne, zaskakujące rzeczywistości. Różni się od obecnej sceny fotograficznej inną tonacją, formatem czy umiejętną grą z techniczną niedoskonałością fotografii. Kalhous nie stroni od subtelnego humoru w fotografii.

Between 1990 and 1995, he studied at the Faculty of Arts of the Palacký University in Olomouc (history of fine arts). Michal Kalhous focuses primarily on the medium of photography, and is also the head of the Studio of intermedia art at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava. His distinctive topics include his own family, but also the seemingly trivial world of everyday objects, which he transposes into other, surprising realities in a special and distinctive way. It differs from the current photographic scene by a different tonality, format or skilful play with the technical imperfection of photography. Kalhous does not evade the subtle humour in photography.
