CYRYL AMBROZIAK – artysta interdyscyplinarny pochodzący z Łodzi, absolwent Uniwersytetu Artystycznego im. Magdaleny Abakanowicz w Poznaniu. Tworzy w szerokim wachlarzu mediów artystycznych – od malarstwa olejnego, przez emalie i akryle, po działania asamblażowe. W swojej praktyce skupia się na surowości materii oraz mięsistości farby. Na wystawie prezentuje prace, które były częścią wystawy magisterskiej zatytułowanej „hypercool”, poruszającej temat autentyczności doświadczenia w dobie hiperrzeczywistości.
Obrazy są przepełnione treścią malarską – można je czytać jak książkę, a oko wiruje wraz z mocnym gestem artysty. Zbiorowym tematem prac jest wspomniane wcześniej pojęcie „hypercool”. Poszczególne prace opowiadają własne historie – każda z nich ma wiele do powiedzenia, jednak warstwa liryczna nie jest w nich tak istotna jak wizualna. Obiekty z pozoru przypominają przedmioty użytkowe, lecz stopniowo zatracają swoją funkcję, stając się bezużyteczne, agresywne i intrygujące. Ich forma i materia zmuszają do zastanowienia się nad pierwotnym przeznaczeniem przedmiotu oraz nad momentem, w którym traci on swoją użyteczność i zaczyna funkcjonować jako autonomiczny obiekt.
Swoje prace prezentował na wystawach w Polsce i za granicą, m.in. w Poznaniu, Warszawie i Ałmaty. Jest także finalistą konkursu Nowy Obraz – Nowe Spojrzenie, uczestnikiem międzynarodowego festiwalu animacji ANIMATOR oraz autorem indywidualnej wystawy „MORGENSZTERN” w galerii Aula UAP w Poznaniu.
CYRYL AMBROZIAK is an interdisciplinary artist from Łódź and a graduate of the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts in Poznań. He works across a wide range of artistic media, from oil painting, enamels and acrylics to assemblage.
His practice focuses on the rawness of materials and the physical, tactile quality of paint. For the exhibition, he presents works originally shown as part of his Master’s degree exhibition, hypercool, which explored the authenticity of experience in the age of hyperreality.
The paintings are saturated with painterly content and can be read almost like a book, while the viewer’s eye moves through them in response to the artist’s powerful gestures. The works share the overarching theme of hypercool. Each individual piece tells its own story – each has much to say, although its lyrical dimension is less important than its visual impact.
At first glance, the objects appear to resemble functional, everyday items, yet they gradually lose their original purpose, becoming useless, aggressive and intriguing. Their form and materiality encourage reflection on the original function of an object and on the moment when it loses its usefulness and begins to exist as an autonomous work of art.
Ambroziak has presented his work in exhibitions in Poland and abroad, including in Poznań, Warsaw and Almaty. He was also a finalist of the New Image – New Look (Nowy Obraz – Nowe Spojrzenie) competition, a participant in the international ANIMATOR animation festival, and the author of the solo exhibition MORGENSZTERN at the Aula UAP Gallery in Poznań.
