Born in Berlin
After graduating from high school, she studied musicology, music education and violin in Berlin and Paris.
She worked as an orchestral musician and as a lecturer in violin and chamber music. From 2011 to 2016 she studied at the Academy of Painting in Berlin and graduated as a master student in 2016. She lives and works in Berlin. She is a member of the Verein Berliner Künstler and the Kunstverein Potsdam. Her work is represented in the collection of female artists at the Museum Library Cologne in the Ludwig Museum, as well as in private collections in Germany and abroad.
Regine Jankowski‘s artistic work originates from her passion for colour.
Similar to compositional means in music, colour creates friction, spatiality and rhythm in pictorial works. Jankowski works with acrylic paint, which she pours onto canvases or uses in the form of dried puddles and leftover paint. The amorphous shapes, created in dialogue with the material, form painterly reliefs and sculptures. Like stage characters they find their place in scenes of a plot. Jankowski‘s compositions explore the relationship between colours and forms.
Urodzona w Berlinie artystka łączy w swojej twórczości doświadczenie muzyczne i malarskie. Po latach pracy jako skrzypaczka i pedagog odkryła malarstwo jako przestrzeń, w której kolor staje się odpowiednikiem dźwięku – tworzy napięcia, rytm i przestrzeń.
Jankowski pracuje z farbą akrylową, którą wylewa na płótno lub wykorzystuje w postaci zastygłych kałuż i resztek barwnika. Tak powstają amorficzne kształty, reliefy i rzeźbiarskie formy, które jak sceniczne postacie znajdują swoje miejsce w narracji obrazu. Jej kompozycje badają relacje między barwami i formami, budując wizualną symfonię.
